I used to run a small business and hopefully will again. \u00a0I know what it takes to make it work, so I know good advise when I see it. \u00a0If you want to open a business, or tune up your existing business, I recommend digging in to some Jordan Belfort on Youtube, otherwise known as the Wolf of Wallstreet. \u00a0I haven’t seen the movie, and doubt it has business advice, however his talks are spot on. \u00a0Here’s a summary of his main points.<\/p>\n

1. \u00a0State Control: \u00a0You have to have a pumped-up attitude which he calls your State. \u00a0Since you are the leader, perhaps running solo, you have to bring the energy to your company.<\/li>\n
2. Vision: \u00a0You have to have a visual picture of what it means to obtain your goals. \u00a0It must have detail, it can’t just be a one sentence goal. \u00a0So dates and detailed accomplishments, and what it looks like.<\/li>\n
3. Plan: \u00a0Turn the vision into a detailed plan. \u00a0It must be reasonable and actionable. \u00a0It must have steps you can check off, and reasonable dates to accomplish it.<\/li>\n
4. Hard Work: \u00a0You must commit and do it.<\/li>\n
5. Learn Sales: \u00a0You will sell in some way. \u00a0Key points: learn tonality. \u00a0Provide value and have a passion to provide value to your customer. \u00a0Your sales then become authentic.<\/li>\n
6. Set high stretch goals. \u00a0Not pie-in-the-sky, e.g. I’ll own a Caribbean island in 1 month, but if you think you can grow revenue 5%, up it to 10%.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
