The laptop is supposedly in the possession of the FBI, however there have been countless leaks \/ News Reports that the NYPD made multiple copies of the laptop, not trusting the Comey FBI. This was the leverage they used to get Comey to reopen the Hillary server investigation. The FBI fired back, threatened certain members of the NYPD with corruption charges, and a compromise was made.<\/p>\n

Anyhow this leak most likely came from the NYPD, though it could also be FBI. Normally when you get a leak like this it is either proof that you have the files, or it is a warning shot. Perhaps people want the DOJ to pick up the pace on criminal indictments. Perhaps they want to make sure there are no delays with the OIG report.<\/p>\n
